About
This add-on module is designed to supplement TAP’s HABIT Training and ensure full compliance with New York State’s mandatory annual sexual harassment prevention training law. This add-on focuses specifically on the legal standards and obligations unique to New York State. Participants will learn: The New York State definition of sexual harassment, including the lowered “not severe or pervasive” standard; Expanded worker coverage, including protections for actors, stage crew, volunteers, contractors, and interns; Requirements for written anti-harassment policies and complaint procedures; Supervisor responsibilities and the duty to report or intervene; Employee rights to file complaints internally and externally (NYSDHR, EEOC, NYC Commission on Human Rights); The prohibition against retaliation; And the importance of accessibility and language equity in training delivery. Interactive reflection points and realistic theatre-based examples help connect legal compliance with TAP’s broader mission: creating safe, equitable, and accountable workplaces in the performing arts. Who Is Required to Take This Course Under New York State Labor Law §201-g, all employers in New York are required to provide annual sexual harassment prevention training to all workers, regardless of title, pay status, or tenure.
